What’s
the Buzz (Ed Daveski) Membership
jumps from ~187 to 223 members.
With the addition of some forty corporate associates at Tobyanna Army
Depot and along with new members from Air Products, Corning, Berwick Offray,
Penn State, University of Scranton and VaxServe, the NEPA Chapter membership has
grown by almost 20%. Basics
of Supply Chain class gets started at Penn
State – Hazleton Campus. In February the first module, Basics of Supply Chain
Management began with 21 students in the class. There are plans for the next
module to begin in April with final three modules offered in the Fall of 2008
and Spring of 2009. Getting a program started in the Hazleton area is something
that the chapter has been working on for the past few years and with the
expertise of Deb Conway, Assistant Director of Continuing Education, everything
came together. NEPA
Student Chapter to be revitalized – Dr.
Nabil Tamimi and Dr. Kingsley Gnanendran of the Operations Management Department
at the University of Scranton are working to get the student chapter program
started again on campus. Their hopes is to introduce undergraduates to APICS and
add more value to their program offerings by having business professionals like
our members share their real-life experiences with the students. APICS
organization announces changes for 2008. Organizational
changes - Effective
January 2008 a new governance structure began for APICS.
Several changes have occurred in the composition of the APICS Board of Directors
and local APICS volunteer leadership to strengthen the association’s ability
to achieve its mission and strategic goals. The
APICS Board of Directors has been re-structured to consist of 3 executive
officers, 9 district directors and 5 at-large directors.
The 14 APICS regions have been consolidated to form 9 districts. For more
information check out the February 2008 edition of the APICS magazine. Membership
Dues - The
APICS Board of Directors approved a new membership dues structure beginning
April 1, 2008. The focus for APICS continues to be on providing the value that
members seek to improve their on-the-job performance, advance in their careers,
and thrive as operations management professionals. The new dues structure will
provide greater support and resources to APICS partners (chapters, districts,
and IAs) who deliver programs locally. Member
association dues will increase from $110 to $150 for professional members.
Professional members belonging to chapters and now associates will pay a fee of
$50 for the chapter/associate portion, for a total dues amount of $200 for
professional members. Corporate
